We are made for relationship. We hunger for it. Relationship is a core desire of the heart. We need to love and be loved. The human heart is made to follow what it desires, good or evil. My passions are meant to be governed by my conscience before my will is given permission to act. But desires can grow into obsessions that can overwhelm my conscience and my will. Repeated behavior that ignores the truth creates a dulled sensitivity and poor judgement. Rationalized conceits force an agenda interpretation of reality which overrides logic and internal honesty—resulting in shame or abuse. Why do I keep choosing the same wrong partner? Have I allowed myself to be involved with a narcissist? Why do I settle for abuse? What makes me think I can take advantage of you? Why do I let you take advantage of me? Why do I want to hide from the truth about what you are really like? How have I made a skill out of being an intimacy fake? What lies have I believed about what feminism and the manosphere say about each other? What popular generalizations about men and women have I accepted as truth, which may not be? How are male and female brains different from each other? How has hook-up culture damaged me? Have my relationships turned into addictions? There can be no real healing without spiritual transformation. If I believe I am answerable only to myself, I am not capable of a loving relationship with another. I am just a user and a taker.
